First Two Digital Scrappin' Paper Dolls Now in WW Store

Introducing, "Maggie" and "Lilly" ~ These paper dolls have been so fun to create!  I have researched all types of paper dolls, vintage and comtemporary, and decided to put together a series of dolls - each one with its own theme.  They all are put together with tiny decorative brads and have their own backgrounds.  The backgrounds include 2 versions; one (8 1/2" x 11") can be printed out in tri-fold greeting card form and the other (12" x 12") can be used for digital scrap booking.

Although they do come complete with a head piece, you have the freedom of inserting your own photo!  Any bows, or head adornments come separate in the kit.  I was surprised how much fun it is to put them together! You can make a wonderful card for a special young friend or make one for yourself to nurture your inner child.

A Few Layouts From Our Fabulous Creative Team!

Just wanted to share a few of what our creative girls have done with my new "Carving Memories" kits!  I wish I could post them all here!  These layouts are using paper and elements from part or all three of the "Carving Memories" series.

I should clarify there are three in the "Carving Memories" series. First one is Carving Memories, second is Carving Memories Too and third is Carving More Memories.  The last two are also offered at a discount as a Combo!  Please check the links for complete descriptions of contents of each kit.

One of the latest is by Rona who resides with her family in the Phillipines.  Her layout shows that this kit does not need to be confined to heritage photos!  She shows her family this past Christmas Eve...

Jen's daughter thought her parents were long overdue for a photo together so she snapped this one! Their home is in the U.K. and they were vacationing in the Orkney Islands! This has a great salt water feel!

Three New 'Carving Memories' Kits Complete!

Hello Friends!

Hope you are having a great start in 2008!

I just completed a series of kits utilizing a wood theme!  I did a layout (see below) of my brother and his wife who participate in the rodeo sport of team roping.  This naturally had a strong Western flair.  From putting this layout together I was inspired to create what grew into three kits of multiple wood elements.  All three kits are up in our Weeds And Wildflowers store now. They are called; 'Carving Memories' which features frames and plaques, 'Carving Memories Too' with a large selection of frames & wooden elements and Carving More Memories' which has 4 wooden alphas and 10 background papers.  Kind of repetitive, huh. The last two are offered as a COMBO KIT too at a savings of almost $2.

The antique oval mat included in the 'Carving Memories Too' is the original mat from my grandparents wedding photo ~ (See my layout below.)

Also, keep checking back I have an extra element or two I have saved as freebies for you!

'Once Upon A Time'  Layout utilizing both of the above kits ~

Grandparents_rhodes800a

This is my father's parents at the time of their wedding about 1912.  I look at their faces and wonder about the hopes they must have had for their future.  They spent their life on a ranch in the mountains near Colville, WA, raising their family of six children.

My grandmother was a talented impressionist painter and she painted her family and scenes around their farm.  I vividly remember (I had to be about 4 years old) when she gave me my first sketch book and special pencil for sketching!  She gave me hints on how to draw trees. And she helped spark my passion for drawing and painting that continues today!

It was making the wooden oval and circle frames in the layout below that sparked the idea for the kits above.  My brother and his wife live in Colorado and love their horses and the rodeo sport of team roping. The steers have special head gear for protection and are well cared for.  He is retired and told me I chose the correct title for this layout, 'Living the Dream!"

A Note From The Treetops...

This blog has been in the planning stages since late summer.  The name 'Treetops Art Studio' was inspired by the Summer view out my 2nd story studio window - beautiful green leafy trees with birds chirping their hearts out!   The first layout of my header was lush with the green view below.

Treetop_header_summer_3Work demands kept pushing back the priority of my blog into Autumn.  I started to revise with the altering view and again the season changed before it was complete.  And now the leaves are gone and we have had our first regulation snow here in Utah.  I am grateful to put this up before Spring!

Outside_autumn72_2

It would be fun to be able to perch out in the trees to sketch or paint amongst the birds!  I have not had the opportunity to paint - for real - for a very long time it seems.  Painting with the computer is quick and clean but the tactile experience with the canvas, papers, brushes or pastels is definately missing...

I hope to share ideas, motivations, a little every-day stuff and some fun through this blog!
